John Dahlmeier John Blacklock
John Dahlmeier, Oroville and John Blacklock, Magalia were both appointed to serve as Trustees of the Butte-Glenn Community College District serving Areas 1 and 5 respectively. Both were appointed on December 14, 2016.
Dahlmeier representing Oroville, takes over for longtime trustee, Lou Cecchi, who resigned his position after serving on the board since 1990.
“Being born and raised in the area, I have a vested interest in our local community and believe everyone should have the opportunity to thrive, grow and enhance the livelihood of others. My vast experience with the business community, various non-profits, and the Butte College Foundation allows me to fill a vital role as a trustee,” said Dahlmeier. “I am glad to be able to give back to our local community and serve in this way.”
Since 1986, Dahlmeier has been the President of Dahlmeier Insurance. Dahlmeier has a bachelor’s degree from CSU, Northridge in business administration and marketing and received an associate’s degree in general education from American River College in Sacramento. A member of Oroville Rotary Club since 1988, and an active member of the Fellows Club of Oroville since 1987, Dahlmeier is active in the community.
John Blacklock, former Butte County CAO, was appointed to serve as the Paradise and Magalia representative, when Thomas McLaughlin resigned after serving as a trustee since 1993.
“My experience in state and local government, my experience with Butte College, and my strong personal belief that education is the foundation of a healthy and vibrant society would help me become a solid, contributing member of the board of trustees,” said Blacklock. “It’s an honor to serve as a part of the leadership team guiding the future of Butte College.”
Blacklock moved to Magalia in 1984 and served as the Butte County Chief Administrative Officer from 1992 until 2001. He earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from UC, Santa Barbara, and an M.B.A. from San Jose State University.
Blacklock serves as a volunteer Senior Advisor with the International City/County Management Association and is a member of the California Civic Learning Partnership established under the State Supreme Court Presiding Justice and State Superintendent of Schools. He has served as a Governor’s appointee on the Silver Dollar Fair Board for 20 years.
